“This underwater photography contest is intended to celebrate the diversity that exists in the underwater world of the Riviera Maya, a destination that offers scuba diving from shore or at sea. No other underwater photography contest in the world that offers the variety and opportunities for diving and taking pictures. “They say the organizers: David Tomlinson, and Andreas W. Lothar Batt Matthes ‘Matt’ Alliance of divers of the Riviera Maya. The underwater photography contest of the Riviera Maya, is an annual event with world class diving, designed to encourage and expand the skills of our divers underwater photography.
We invite divers from around the world to visit Playa del Carmen and take part in a memorable experience that will include diving, social events and workshops, concluding with the presentation of the winning photos in an awards ceremony. Some local businesses and diving equipment providers are supporting this event with prizes, briefings and presentations to promote this extraordinary opportunity. We will have the presence of international judges who selected the winners on December 11 in the closing ceremony. The Riviera Maya, located south of Cancun, with other cities in the Caribbean and Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, is fortunate in having dive sites such as caves and underground caverns and dives in the second largest barrier reef the world, the Mesoamerican reef, which stretches over 700 km from Cancun to Honduras. The Alliance of the Riviera Maya Divers is a dive center network that promotes quality diving in the Riviera Maya through events and promotions to support the diving community. Abyss diving centers, Tank-ha and Protec joined forces in May 2009 to carry out this vision and promote it internationally to those interested in recreational and technical diving.
